Yet another Hangover Entry (long)

Ouch.
Last night, the SF Rat Pack convened to send off one of our own. He got accepted to USF’s Master of Finance Program, Bangkok division. He’s bugging out this week and will be in BKK at the end of the month. School begins in May over there.
So what do we do for a sendoff? We drink and eat and smoke of course!

We began the evening at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It’s one of the houses that we’ve not been at yet. And even though the steaks were pretty good, the place was full of well heeled tourists. Not thrilled with the atmosphere, nor with the a-la-carte pricing of our meal. Example: rib-eye steak for US$40. Then potatoes, veggies and the like were US$7.99 additional. Each!! And cocktails were US$10 each!!! The saving grace was that since we ordered two rounds of cocktails, we were spared the corkage fee on the bottle of V. Sattui Rosso that we brought.
Recommendation: Good steak, but if you want an equally good steak with better atmosphere, there are other, cheaper, locally owned places to chow down at.
Then it was off to 850 for cigars and more cocktails. We smoked and drank and went over old times until it got too cold on the patio. After we finished our drinks, we headed back to the Richmond to Trad’r Sam’s, which proved to be our downfall…
They have a drink called “The Scorpion” which is cheap rum, pineapple, cheap champagne and 4 straws served in a small salad serving bowl.
Yes, it sounds and tastes revolting.
I broke my cardinal rule of drinking. Which is: DRINK GOOD BOOZE!
Good booze = no hangover.
Bad booze = mother of all hangovers. Which I woke up with this AM.
Stomach bloated, head pounding and neck and shoulders wrecked. Then I went back to sleep. Then stomach calmed down, headache stopped and neck and shoulder aches cured after long hot shower.
Still feeling like crap, I tried the “burned toast” cure that has been featured on this blog earlier. Voila! It worked lah!
This cure is not a licence to overdo it with the wrong stuff, but it’s nice to know that it works…
I’m going to drink another liter of water now.
