My street…

was Sukumvit Soi 1. It turns into a river when it rains hard.

It’s full of hawkers plying their wares near open sewer grates on really small sidewalks so you’re forced to walk in the street.
But on Soi 1 is the Number 1 Guesthouse, Bar, Internet Cafe. Take your pick, it’s all the same place. Check out the journey to my room.

Walk into the cafe part.

They make food here and have DSL access for 1 baht/minute. If you stay here and log in off peak, you get 20 minutes free. It helps.
Walk to the back and hang a left. Go up these stairs.

Then these.

Up ONE more flight!

Up yet ONE more flight!

Now you’re in an area where there’s a common bathroom area. Walk into the building next door. And go down these stairs.

Make a U turn and you’re in what was once known as a “stabbin’ cabin”. a bunch of rooms that was part of the Number 1’s bar back before it’s current ownership.

You know, meet a girl at the bar, need a place to go? Rent it by the hour!
How did I figure this out? First off, the big ass mirror over the bed.

Yeah, I can see myself snoring from the bed! Second, there’s a big note over the bar that says “we dun sell rooms by the hour, period!”. And lastly, there’s a set of stairs that go down into the bar. That door is usually locked.
I picked this place because they have cheap, decently fast DSL, the place was cheap and it was near Duker’s place, just 50 metres or so down the road.
Interesting…
