If you ask anyone that knows me, they could probably tell you that I like beaches. I don’t LIKE beaches as it’s something I must do on a hot summer day along with 30000 other people and the problems that brings.
I “like” beaches because of the serenity, the sand and water. Sunsets look great while walking on them. And beachfront houses rawk!
Today, I did a bit of an walkabout journey, walking the Coastal Trail that begins at the world famous Bondi and ends about 4 clicks above and below 3 other beaches. This walkabout began poorly. It rained (actually, it’s still raining as I type this). What is the deal with me and rain? Do I bring it with me? This rain caught me in the open, requiring me to duck into a cafe to sip an overpriced coffee for an hour.

Then it cleared up.

On to the beach! But first must read signs with rules!

Almost to the minute the rain stopped, that SL pulled up and the lifeguard school next door to the cafe I was at sent it’s class to the water. They had to learn how to surf in that uniquely blue water.

Did I mention the blueness of the water on this beach? Like Liv Tyler’s eyes in Armageddon. Kanna believe they’re really THAT blue.
Here’s an overhead shot to see how big Bondi is. Despite being relatively small, it can fit 35000 people. I’d hate to be stuck in THAT traffic jam!

Just imagine 35K people here in a screaming, writhing mass…
The coastal path takes you across Bondi Beach and up around it. On the path, you have a lot of sheer drops where you get an bird’s eye view of the water and the rocks that it hits.

Sometimes people chill here (talking on the phone!)…

…and sometimes they work here

More to come…

Wow.. looks great..
I’m SO jealous!!
Funnily enough, i was going to suggest you do this walk. But i thought you weren’t a walking kind of person so i didn’t suggest it.
But i’m so glad you did it! To me, it’s one of the most beautiful walks in the world and i’ve walked that stretch twice.
Every year, there’s a “Sculptures By the Sea” exhibition with sculptures laid at intervals along this coastal trail and everyone’s just taking a nice stroll to admire the artwork. It’s lovely and such a brilliant idea to use the sea as a backdrop!
