Ugh

Soooo, after a month away from the gym, my GP has given me the official “thumbs up” to begin exercising again.
I went to the gym this AM and started the usual workout (one hour on the elliptical). Could only last for 40 minutes, huffing and puffing like a steam engine (or maybe like someone inside a soapland!).
Getting back into this is going to take some time. And will probably be painful too. But it’s necessary! Tis almost travel season!

What a difference a few hours makes

In the hours since the last entry, the skies cleared up and it’s nice and sunny outside.
Of course, 12 hours of rain followed by sunshine = weeds in the backyard. And, of course, I just pulled a LOT of the weeds.
Sigh.
Also, I need to remember that wonderful nugget of wisdom that I’ve quoted before in this blog: “Frequent Flyer miles dun accrue interest!”
Let’s see if I can get to SIN next weekend…

Tough Month

Sigh….
This has been a tough month. So many changes.
Ever have one of those life-altering events that just throws your life and everything you hold true into disarray? I had one last month. And have been dealing with the aftereffects and pain ever since. You wanna know? Email me.
The first clue was the posting of “Cemetry Gates” for almost a month. I generally dun post song lyrics, since I ‘m usually better expressing myself than some random songwriter. I haven’t been online, haven’t done any MSNing or anything even close to routine. And on top of that, I see that one of my fave blogs shut down because of the jealously of petty people.
Next week, I’m off to HKG, via NRT for a week and a half. I had a ticket I had to use or burn. Because of the quick time that this trip entails, I kanna head down to my favourite city-state, even though it’s sooo close! Singapore will have to wait until next March….
The HKG trip will be more business now. I’m planning to caucus with some frens there about finding my way to Hoi-Ping (which I understand is called “Kaiping” City now) in Guangdong Province. If I can get there on this trip, that would be good. If I can get there after before Ching Ming next year (cuz Ching Ming is at the beginning of April), it would be better (I’m still a sucker for planning) AND I can swing down to SIN and visit my dark chocky lovin’ fren.
During this past month, we had our two weeks of “summer”. It was nice. Today is “Black Friday”, or the first shopping day after Thanksgiving. It’s raining and cold. Fun for all those people who actually queue up in the wee hours to get into a mall…
Priorities, people!!

Dino and Frank

Still rule this town, at least in spirit. And they’re in good company, with the Sopranos on the top and The Godfather on the bottom.

From a Pizza joint on 1st Ave.

Swoooosh!

This weekend was Fleet Week here in San Francisco.
That means a parade of ships and the Blue Angels buzzing the City. Fun fun fun!
Today, I went to check out the amphibious assault ship, the USS Boxer.
Here’s the well deck, where hovercraft and ground vehicles are loaded and unloaded. It’s wood for traction since this part of the ship can take on water.

The flight deck is over 2 acres big! Here’s some artsy fartsy pix of the deck.

And one not so artsy-fartsy. Just a big deck.

And of course, the Blue Angels flying overhead!

The day was nice. Hope DC and NY are as nice as I’m going there this week!

BJ Traffic?!?

I have a buddy in BJ who lives downtown near the main drag.
Get yer frakkin’ minds out of the gutter, BJ = Beijing!
Anyhoo, he sees a lotta stuff. How about a BJ traffic jam?

I mean, look at this!!! It’s a four-way intersection and it doesn’t look like it’s closed off for any reason! It looks almost like traffic in San Francisco…

Doh!

So it was a beeeyoutiful day today in SF. The sun was out (waaaaaaaah!) and it wasn’t too oppressively hot. I ran errands on my motorbike and afterwards, arrived at my gym to burn my 700 calories on the eliptical.
I checked in and prepared to change into my workout clothes. I’ve got my shorts, t-shirt, iPod, noise-cancelling headphones, water…

where are my running shoes?

When I went riding today, I forgot my running shoes at home.
*smacks forehead* DOH!!!

How Exciting!

Woooooooooah!
A fren fell into some 49ers tickets for today’s game against the Dallas Cowgirls, erm, cowboys.
Woooooooooha!
Although the 49ers are supposed to suck this season, falling into tickets is a rare occurance indeed. The last time I went to the Stick was the last time the 49ers played the LA (Anaheim) Rams!! A long time ago, indeed.
Mah Trojans made Peking Duck in Corvallis yesterday, maybe the 49ers can pull off da upset today.
It’s all football for me. After all, I am a “one sport” guy! =P
Here’s the view from the seats in Lower Reserved Section 10, Row 14!

The game was fun. Except for the end. The 49ers lost. =\
C’est la guerre…

Brrrrr…

I was in Los Angeles last weekend.
Went for a fren’s wedding.
Met up with a bunch of old frens from my LA days who are all married also.
I know that once a person gets married, there’s change in the air. And based on my recent experience, the guys change more than the girls.
It’s almost like the guys are forced to close the book on the “single” part of their life and discard everything from that so they can begin the “married” part of their lives. It’s more of a bummer when they were once your “homies”.
The worst part is that I’m now one of two “Last Men Standing”. Disturbing…
Of course if the right girl comes along, maybe I’ll be transmogrified too…
