How about Reflections on a river?
It was cold when I took this…45 degrees or so. But it was soooo still that the river was still and it looked like a mirror.
Here is a tree
Here is a tree from New Hampshire.
Nice looking colours,eh?
Late
It took waaay too long to get here.
Flying to IAD was uneventful enough.
Getting to Manchester was all about delays and itsy-bitsy planes.
Even did some work tonight.
Time to sleep. Going to be up at 0630 later this AM!
Bleagh.
It’s Early
It’s early. It’s waaaay too early. I mean, look at the time on this post!
Woke up at 0430 this AM. To catch an oversold 0745 flight.
Somehow, this just doesn’t seem right.
Cuz it’s TOO EARLY! I mean, it’s still dark out!
More from IAD when I land.
What Causes Hangovers?
That question has been skillfully answered here (I hope).
I’ve known about the sports drink cure (Gatorade, Pocari Sweat) and the water cure (hydrate, hydrate!) for a while. I like the sports drink cure better because it tastes good and when it tastes good, you drink more.
Look at the success of Propel water here in the States for proof of that. Gulp. Gulp.
This is a travel tip because if you hang out in Japan, you will be drinking alcohol (A LOT) and you dun need a hangover to spoil your holiday!

Travel Season Begins!
Travel season for me begins when I make my first long haul flight after the summer ends. Travel season ends in December when airfares spike for the Xmas-New Years rush.
Why then so blur? Prices are cheeper, lah! That’s why.
On Wednesday, I’m off to the East Coast on a business trip. New Hampshire. It’s about the same during the day, temperture wise. It gets hella cold at night. Low 40’s. I think my phone will work out there and they have BofAs, no Citibanks.
Actually, I’m off hella early. I have to be on the street at 0520 to catch a bus that will take me to catch a train to get to SFO.
Normally I’d bum a ride from frens that are going downtown or park at the airport except,
#1: it’s too too too early and none of my frens that drive have to get up THAT early and
#2: parking at SFO for 7 days costs the same as a round trip ticket to New York…
Will blog from the East coast best I can. Do they have Starbucks out there? =P
BJ
After touring 2/3 of Japan, I’m going to be in Beijing for a weekend.
It’s going to be my third time there, BJ being part of my first Asia Trip in 1999 and again in post SARS 2002.
I’ve seen much of the touristy/historic attractions but not all of them. Like the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and many bars in the Chaoyang district.
Since BJ got the Olympic Games, they’ve been building. A lot. In fact, they’ve been building with such zeal that the IOC has asked them to slow down.
One of my peeves about BJ during past visits was that the Beijing Metro (北京地铁) only had two lines and they didn’t expand much beyond Chang’an Lu or the 2nd Ring Road. The Olympics have given the BJ authorities the justification to embark on some long delayed capital projects. Like new subway/rail lines for one.
The traffic in BJ is almost as bad as Seoul’s traffic jams. Really baaaad! Hopefully the new trains will alleviate some of it.
Pretty serious post, eh? =)
Wardrobe
Eeeech.
I’ve been tinkering with the website. Added some new links and updated things.
Then I started poking through the archives to make sure they worked still.
Saw my entries from 2002. I think I need to get new travel clothes, because I’m still wearing stuff from 2002.
Aiya!
Japan
This year’s Japan trip is quite ambitious.
It consists of staying in Tokyo for two nights to shop and play.
Then, its off to Kyoto, Beppu, Fukuoka, Kagoshima and Hiroshima for one night in each place.
Yes, I know it’s rather rushed. But I’ve always believed in ordering the sampler plate whenever I try out a new restaurant. And I like to think of this as being a “sampler tour” of the rest of Japan.
And since the JR Pass lasts for a week, gotta get my money’s worth!
Although, the areas north of Tokyo (primarily Hokkaido) I’ve not seen yet. Save that for another trip. Along with the places I wind up liking from this trip.
Gosh, I’m looking forward to this…
New Hampshire, Asia
I will most likely be sent to New Hampshire during the last weekend of October. Anyone out there know how the weather will be like out there?
(yes, I know I can go to weather. com and look up historicals, but it’s always better to get a first hand account, ya know!).
In other news, Beeg Asia Trip 2004 is ready to go. Tickets have been acquired and reservations have been made.
Gee, there’s more to Japan than Tokyo, eh?
