Went for a Ride

Went for a ride on my motorbike with a friend who was breaking in his last weekend. It was a fun jaunt through Marin ending at the Marin Headlands (at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge).

The Headlands are pretty high and the bridge is really big.

This is the obligatory artsy shot.

At the other end of the Headlands is Point Bonita. There’s been a lighthouse there for a billion years.

A BILLION years! From the time of the dinosaurs…

Modern solution on the left of the pretty picture of the VA in the distance

But nowadays, instead of lighthouses, the modern solution is radar and electronically controlled foghorns.

Definitely not lomantic, but the foghorns still wail

More Charles Krug

Here’s another pic of the Charles Krug Winery showcasing the greenery of the Napa Valley.

Nice, eh? Especially after it rains…

Charles Krug Vineyard

I was in Napa this past Sunday, having lunch at CIA in St. Helena. Great food lah!
Across the street is the Charles Krug winery that boasts of having the “best white wine in the USA”. Now I wouldn’t know too much about that (I usually drink reds), but the view was nice right after the rain broke.

Ho ho ho

Merry Christmas to all of you that are actually reading this !
Xmas tree in Union Square, San Francisco.

In the background is the St. Francis Hotel on Powell Street, where the cable cars rumble up and down the hill.
I took this pic last night (Xmas eve) before it got cold cold cold! 4 degrees celsius!
Brrrrr….

House and Road

I was in New Hampshire on a business trip.
Inbetween the business, I’ve been taking snaps.
Here’s a house with a big tree.
This is the road that leads to a better day.
Or the grocery store.

River

How about Reflections on a river?
It was cold when I took this…45 degrees or so. But it was soooo still that the river was still and it looked like a mirror.

Travel Season Begins!

Travel season for me begins when I make my first long haul flight after the summer ends. Travel season ends in December when airfares spike for the Xmas-New Years rush.
Why then so blur? Prices are cheeper, lah! That’s why.
On Wednesday, I’m off to the East Coast on a business trip. New Hampshire. It’s about the same during the day, temperture wise. It gets hella cold at night. Low 40’s. I think my phone will work out there and they have BofAs, no Citibanks.
Actually, I’m off hella early. I have to be on the street at 0520 to catch a bus that will take me to catch a train to get to SFO.
Normally I’d bum a ride from frens that are going downtown or park at the airport except,
#1: it’s too too too early and none of my frens that drive have to get up THAT early and
#2: parking at SFO for 7 days costs the same as a round trip ticket to New York…
Will blog from the East coast best I can. Do they have Starbucks out there? =P

New Hampshire, Asia

I will most likely be sent to New Hampshire during the last weekend of October. Anyone out there know how the weather will be like out there?
(yes, I know I can go to weather. com and look up historicals, but it’s always better to get a first hand account, ya know!).
In other news, Beeg Asia Trip 2004 is ready to go. Tickets have been acquired and reservations have been made.
Gee, there’s more to Japan than Tokyo, eh?

Can’t speak too well

Sooo last night our little group (which was part of a bigger group called “USC”) converged onto Adams-Morgan last night for a private party.
Besides Washington DC having traffic planners imported from San Francisco (which meant that traffic dun move at all because of poor traffic planning), it was hot and sticky, which meant the club inside was hotter and stickier.
There was also a shooting in front of the club as well. DC ain’t boring!
Stayed out too late, drank too much and got back to the hotel waaay too late. And on top of it, I’m still on Pacific time which means going to bed at 0400.
Slept in today and took it easy, getting ready for the game. Then we queued up for the bus ride to Lanover, MD. It took us through “scenic” Anacostia. SE DC. At least the traffic moves quickly through the slums. It was worse than South Central!
Before the game, the local Alumni club arranged a corporate tailgate.
Trailers of Bud and Bud related beers with taps attached and lots of food. That was a good deal because inside FedEx field, it was expensive.
We won. Which is all that matters.
But by the time we all got back to the hotel (0145 or so), I found out that I blew out my voice because I was screaming, errrr cheering so hard during the game.
Bleagh.
Koff Koff.
