There are famous landmarks here that look really old, but were constructed bewteen the 50s and the 80s in the Tang Dynasty style and layout.  I visited the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Park that has the CKS Memorial Hall, the National Concert Hall, Theater and two gates that remind me of the layout of Tiananmen Square and its related buildings in Beijing.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/natltheatre.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/natltheatre.html','popup','width=640,height=480,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/natltheatre-thumb.jpg?resize=320%2C240\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>The Concert Hall near the MRT<\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/nationalconcert.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/nationalconcert.html','popup','width=640,height=480,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/nationalconcert-thumb.jpg?resize=320%2C240\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>The National Theatre on the other side of the square<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe focal point of the park is the big memorial hall devoted to the memory of Chiang Kai-Shek. But first, you have to pass the Grand Hotel.  It&#8217;s really huge and you can see it with the naked eye from Taipei 101.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/grandhotel.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/grandhotel.html','popup','width=640,height=480,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/grandhotel-thumb.jpg?resize=320%2C240\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>It&#8217;s bigger than it looks! <\/em><br \/>\nThe Martyr&#8217;s Shrine is a 10 minute walk from the Grand Hotel which is another 10 minute walk from the MRT station.  Before you hit the shrine, you pass an ROC Army Barracks.
