{"id":532,"date":"2006-08-30T00:18:31","date_gmt":"2006-08-30T00:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/walking-ixus.net\/blog\/?p=532"},"modified":"2006-08-30T00:18:31","modified_gmt":"2006-08-30T00:18:31","slug":"petronas_towers_and_a_mall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/walking-ixus.net\/blog\/petronas_towers_and_a_mall\/","title":{"rendered":"Petronas Towers and a Mall!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Malaysian landmark (the one thing that people think &#8220;Malaysia&#8221; when they see it) is unquestionably the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petronastwintowers.com.my\/\">Petronas Towers<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/petronas51.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/petronas51.html','popup','width=639,height=853,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/petronas5-thumb.jpg?resize=240%2C320\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>They&#8217;re quite tall.  And there&#8217;s a mall at the bottom! <\/em><br \/>\nI was last in KL in 2003 when I was introduced to Tiger Beer with ice, spicy chicken noodle soup, World Union Rugby and the mother of all hangovers.  During this lost weekend, we tried to get tickets to the Petronas Towers tour, but got there too late (all gone!).  Tickets for the tour are free, but rationed.  They are distributed on the same day, from 0800 until they run out.<br \/>\nMy first stop after arriving at <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/KL_Sentral\">KL Sentral<\/a> from KLIA was to the ticket desk to try to get a tour ticket.  I arrived there around 1015 and I&#8217;ll have to admit, I wasn&#8217;t too optimistic.  But sometimes things work out. It began with a brief film on the construction and design of the Towers followed by a ride in what seemed to be a freight elevator to the skybridge on the 41st Floor.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/petronas6.html\" onclick=\"window.open('http:\/\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/petronas6.html','popup','width=640,height=480,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.walking-ixus.net\/blog\/photos\/petronas6-thumb.jpg?resize=320%2C240\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Looking down! No restaurant or view deck at the top of the towers.
